Education Shibir - 20th July 2014, Kayamkulam
An Education Shibir for Students from Kayamkulam and near by places was organized by the Education Cell of the State Committee at Sree Vitoba High School, Kayamkulam on Sunday, 20th July, 2014. Students from Kayamkulam, Parakood and Kottayam numbering to 56 attended the Shibir.
Shri. Prasad Kini, President of Sri Vittala dewaswom, Kayamkulam inaugurated the Shibir by lighting the lamp in front of the portraits of Grama Devatha and Paramadhikari Srimad Sudhindra Thirtha Swamiji and Pattashishya Srimad Samyamindra Thirtha Swamiji and Guruvaryas of Sri. Kashi Math Samsthan. After Samooha prarthana, in an inaugural session presided by Sri. Vittaldas Prabhu, State Committee Member, Sri. K S Ramachandra Pai, General Secretary of the Mahasabha gave an introduction to students on the activities of the Mahasabha in the education field. Smt. Latha Bai, Councilor and Sri. Radhakrishna Pai, Chairman of South Zone offered felicitations.
Sri. R Narasimha Achariar, Alleppey took the first session of the shibir on ‘Our Culture and Heritage’. He guided the students to enable them answer the basic questions of ‘Who are we?’, ‘What should we be?’ and ‘Why do we exist?’. Quoting from Swasti vachana of Mandookya Upanishad, ‘”Bhadram Karnebhi: Srunuyama Devaha…”, faculty urged the students to build a model life of a ‘Good Human Being’. The importance of acquiring the ‘Daivi gunas’ as detailed in Chapter XVI of Srimad Bhagavad Gita for leading such a life was also stressed upon.
Second Session of the Shibir was on the subject ‘Realise your personality & How to select your career’ and was well managed by Sri. Ramesh Prabhu, Convener, Education Cell. Guiding the students through a vivid slide show, he could make them appreciate the gifts, God has given them and could convince them how they can reach the heights even from limited backgrounds. Need for having a good ambition and requirement of regular efforts in right direction was also explained.
Third session, which commenced after a light but healthy lunch, was handled by Sri. Sundaresh P Kamath, Cherthala. ‘Importance of Extra Curricular activities in life’ was explained by the faculty with the help of a power point presentation which also stressed on the needs for good habits including wise savings and avoiding unwanted expenditure, right from their student life. The need and ways of ‘Time Management’ were also dealt with.
Before the conclusion of Seminar, Dinesh R Kamath, Member, Education Cell gave a brief talk on the importance of Mental Strength in life quoting the example of dejection of Arjuna from Srimad Bhagavad Gita and motivated them to study Gita for a tension free life even in this ‘Competition’ world. He also urged the students to come forward as Swayam Sevaks for the Mahasabha activities.
